Contraindications

GERD/hiatal hernia (may relax lower esophageal sphincter). Gallbladder problems. Do not apply menthol near face of infants/young children.

Interactions

May interact with cyclosporine, antacids (enteric-coated peppermint oil dissolves too early), and medications metabolized by CYP enzymes.

Side Effects

Heartburn, allergic reactions, headache, mouth sores (oil). Menthol near face of infants can cause breathing difficulty.

Allergy: Mint allergy (uncommon but possible). Menthol sensitivity.
