Keynote Symptoms
Dread of solitude — clings to companion's hand, holds onto them, cannot bear to be alone even for a moment. Gastric complaints — pressure in stomach with burning, vomiting of enormous quantities of food and water. Pain in stomach shooting through to spine. Headache alternating with gastric pain. Prostration with cold limbs and warm head.
Mind & Emotional Symptoms
Cannot bear to be alone — intense anxiety when alone. Clings to companions. Restless, must move about but aimlessly. Solitude is unbearable. Moaning, complaining. Anguish.
General Symptoms
Gastric remedy with intense fear of solitude. Worse from eating, solitude, after surgery. Better from cold drinks, bending backward, company, motion.
Physical Symptoms
Head
Headache alternating with gastric symptoms. Boring, cutting pain. Heavy forehead.
Stomach
Pressure, burning in stomach. Vomiting of enormous quantities — water is vomited as soon as it reaches the stomach. Food remains for days then is vomited. Gastralgia — pain shoots through to spine. Nausea after operations.
Abdomen
Pinching, griping, burning. Rumbling.
Extremities
Cold hands and feet. Restless limbs.

Constitutional Type
Not strongly constitutional. Used for gastric complaints with fear of solitude. Post-surgical nausea.

Comparative Materia Medica
Arsenicum album has gastric burning but more restless and thirsty for sips. Phosphorus has vomiting when water warms in stomach but more sociable normally. Stramonium fears solitude but with terror and violence.

Calcarea carbonica, Capsicum, Nux vomica.
Bismuth compounds are relatively low in toxicity. Bismuth subsalicylate (Pepto-Bismol) is widely used. Large doses can cause darkening of tongue and stool, and rarely bismuth encephalopathy. Safe in all potencies.
