Canine hunger soon after eating or variable appetite. Dark circles under eyes. Jerking and twitching during sleep. Child wants many things but rejects them when offered.

Very cross, disagreeable, whining, complaining. Wants to be rocked or carried but is not satisfied. Does not want to be touched or looked at. Ugly temper. Strikes and kicks. Cannot be pleased.

Abdomen
Hard, distended abdomen. Twisting pain around navel. Worm colic.
Rectum
Itching of anus from pinworms. Worms visible in stool.
Respiratory
Gagging, choking cough. Child stiffens during cough, becomes rigid, then relaxes. Whooping-cough type.

Grinding of teeth during sleep. Night terrors. Screaming in sleep. Jerking and twitching. Restless sleep.

Constitutional Type
Irritable, ill-tempered children with worm symptoms. Pale, sickly, with dark circles under eyes. Cannot be pleased. Very touchy. Children who bore at their nose constantly. May also be seen in thin, ill-nourished children with large bellies.

Intestinal worms (pinworms, roundworms). Night terrors. Teeth grinding. Whooping cough. Convulsions in children. Strabismus from worms. Worm colic.
Comparative Materia Medica
Compare Chamomilla (irritable child but wants to be carried and is better from it), Spigelia (worms but with cardiac symptoms), Santoninum (worms with visual disturbances). Cina children are distinctly nasty-tempered and bore at their nose.
Safety Information
Camphor. Capsicum. China. Picricum acidum.
Contains santonin, a vermifuge. In material doses, santonin can cause visual disturbances (yellow vision), convulsions, and renal irritation. Mother tincture contains active santonin and should be dosed carefully in children.
