Keynote Symptoms
Sharp stitching pains in any part of the body, worse 2-4 AM. Bag-like swelling of upper eyelids between brow and lid. Backache — must lie down, feels as if back would break. Weakness, chilliness, sweating. Sensitive to drafts. Wakes at 2-3 AM with complaints. Conservative, rigid, dutiful.
Mind & Emotional Symptoms
Rigid, duty-bound, conservative. Never wants to be alone. Fear of the future, of ghosts, of disease. Irritable, domineering. Startles from noise, touch. Very sensitive, yet tries to control. Hypersensitive to pain.
General Symptoms
Stitching pains. Worse 2-4 AM, from cold, drafts, after coitus, lying on left or painful side. Better from warmth, sitting with elbows on knees, leaning forward, open air. Chilly, soft, flabby. Profuse sweating.

Stomach

Comparative Materia Medica
Bryonia also has stitching pains worse from motion but lacks the 2-4 AM aggravation. Arsenicum has similar 1-2 AM waking but with more restlessness and anxiety. Natrum muriaticum has similar reserved personality but is lean rather than flabby.
