Keynote Symptoms

Violent congestive headache — bursting, throbbing, mostly frontal. Relieved by profuse nosebleed — once blood flows, headache resolves. Face very red, flushed, congested. Cerebral congestion. Convulsions in children from head congestion. Mental symptoms from blood rushing to head.

Material Dose Toxicity

Sweet clover contains coumarin, which can convert to dicoumarol (anticoagulant) in spoiled hay — causes hemorrhagic disease in cattle. Fresh plant is safe. Coumarin in normal amounts is non-toxic. Safe in all potencies.
