Keynote Symptoms

Skin eruptions with thick, white crusts under which pus collects, especially on scalp (matting hair). Violent neuralgic pains after herpes zoster. Bones feel swollen, painful at night. Burning, itching eruptions. Pains go from above downward. Intolerable itching worse from warmth of bed.

Mind & Emotional Symptoms

Indifferent, dull. Depressed. Desire for solitude. Apprehensive. Sensitive to rudeness.

General Symptoms

Worse from cold air, night, touch, warmth of bed (skin), damp weather. Better from open air, wrapping up.

Physical Symptoms

Head

Thick, leathery crusts on scalp under which pus collects, matting the hair together. Violent neuralgic headache.

Eyes

Ciliary neuralgia after operations on eyes. Burning, dry, smarting.

Face

Neuralgia worse at night, from touch, better from radiant heat. Bones of face painful.

Mouth

Teeth feel elongated and numb. Toothache worse at night. Burning vesicles on tongue.

Stomach

Burning, desire for ham fat, coffee. Nausea after fatty food.

Abdomen

Constriction. Flatulence.

Rectum

Diarrhea, green, slimy. Prolapse before stool. Constipation after delivery.

Extremities

Bone pains, especially long bones, tibiae. Worse at night, from touch, in damp cold. Swollen periosteum.

Skin

Thick, crusty eruptions with pus beneath. Vesicular eruptions. Post-herpetic neuralgia. Eczema. Itching intolerable, worse from warmth of bed. Ulcers with thick scabs.

Ranunculus bulbosus also treats herpes zoster and intercostal neuralgia but has more blister-like vesicles. Rhus tox has vesicular eruptions but with more restlessness and amelioration from warmth. Graphites has crusted eruptions but with honey-like discharge.
