Keynote Symptoms
Extreme muscular weakness — patient slides down in bed, jaw drops, tongue paralyzed. Deep, dark, protruding hemorrhoids exquisitely sensitive to touch. Involuntary stool when urinating. Unconscious moaning in typhoid states. Profound prostration out of proportion to the disease.
Mind & Emotional Symptoms
Morose, irritable, silent, taciturn. Moans unconsciously. Intolerant of sight of food. Muttering delirium in typhoid states. Sadness. Peevishness.
General Symptoms
Profound muscular weakness and prostration. Worse from walking, sitting upright, wet weather, before midnight. Better from warmth, lying on left side, motion.
Physical Symptoms
Head
Heavy, as if full of lead. Occiput feels heavy, must throw head backward. Vertigo on moving.
Mouth
Tongue heavy, paralyzed, shrunken, dry, leathery. Deep ulcers on tongue. Lips cracked, bleeding. Sordes on teeth. Breath offensive.
Throat
Dark red, edematous. Diphtheria. Ulcerated. Can only swallow liquids.
Stomach
Cannot bear sight or thought of food. Empty, sinking. Vomiting of bile.
Rectum
Hemorrhoids — deep, dark blue, protruding, exquisitely tender to touch even of toilet paper. Prolapse during urination. Involuntary stool while urinating. Diarrhea involuntary while passing gas.
Urinary
Bladder paralyzed — must wait a long time, then slow stream. Must press abdominal muscles to urinate.
Extremities
Extreme weakness — cannot sit upright, slides down in bed. Muscles will not obey the will. Numbness of fingertips.
Skin
Petechia. Ecchymoses. Bedsores.
Fever / Chill / Perspiration
Typhoid fever — profound prostration, moaning, sliding down in bed. Intermittent fever with debility. Perspiration during sleep.

Baptisia has typhoid prostration but with more confusion — cannot collect thoughts. Phosphoric acid has prostration from fluid loss but less physical collapse. Aloe has protruding hemorrhoids but with more insecurity and gurgling.
