Keynote Symptoms

Profuse, gushing, offensive, painless diarrhea, worse in early morning (4-5 AM). Stool shoots out in a forceful stream. Gurgling and rumbling before stool. Prolapse of rectum during stool. Alternation of headache and diarrhea. Liver affections with sallowness.

Mind & Emotional Symptoms

Loquacious during fever. Depressed. Restless, fidgety. Dissatisfied.

General Symptoms

Worse early morning (4-5 AM), hot weather, during dentition, after eating and drinking, from bathing, in early summer. Better from lying on abdomen, rubbing liver area, external heat, evening.

Physical Symptoms

Head

Headache alternating with diarrhea. One when the other is absent. Morning headache with flushing.

Mouth

Grinding of teeth during sleep. Difficult dentition with diarrhea.

Stomach

Nausea, vomiting. Gagging. Thirst for large quantities of cold water. Heartburn.

Abdomen

Distended, hot. Gurgling and rumbling, especially before stool. Liver enlarged, sore. Pain in right hypochondrium.

Rectum

Profuse, gushing, offensive diarrhea. Shoots out forcefully. Painless or with cramps. Followed by exhaustion. Prolapse of rectum with stool. Morning diarrhea. Green, watery, fetid stool during dentition.

Female Genitalia

Prolapse of uterus. Bearing-down. Ovarian pain, especially right.

Skin

Sallow, jaundiced. Liver spots.

Comparative Materia Medica

Aloe socotrina has morning diarrhea with rectal insecurity but more rumbling and involuntary stool. Sulphur has morning diarrhea (drives out of bed at 5 AM) but is itchy and hot. Croton tiglium has watery gushing stool but with more nausea.

Podophyllum resin (podophyllin) is a drastic cathartic and cytotoxic agent. Used externally for warts. Causes severe GI irritation, liver and kidney damage in large doses. Use only potentised forms.
