Promotes healing of fractures and bony injuries. Pricking, stitching pain at site of fracture. Black eye from blunt trauma (a ball, fist). Injuries to periosteum where flesh is thin. Non-union of fractures. Irritability of stump after amputation.

Comparative Materia Medica
Arnica is the first remedy for bruising but not specific to bone healing. Ruta is for injuries where bone is thinly covered (periosteum/tendons). Calcarea phosphorica promotes bone healing more constitutionally in children.

No well-documented antidotes.
Comfrey contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which are hepatotoxic with prolonged internal use. External use is generally safe. Potentised forms are safe.
