Keynote Symptoms
Hemorrhagic nephritis — blood in urine that is smoky, dark, with albumin and casts. Burning throughout the urinary tract. Strangury. Abdomen enormously distended and tympanitic. Tongue smooth, glazed, glossy (as if varnished) — a strong particular keynote. Hemorrhage from any organ — dark blood. Drowsiness, stupor with abdominal distension. Worm complaints with dark urine.
Mind & Emotional Symptoms
Drowsy, stupid. Confused. Dull. Indifferent from uremia.
General Symptoms
Kidneys, bladder, abdomen. Worse from night, damp, cold, walking, sitting. Better from walking in open air, warm applications.
Physical Symptoms
Mouth
Tongue smooth, glazed, glossy — as if varnished. The keynote tongue. Dry mouth.
Urinary
Hemorrhagic nephritis — smoky, dark urine with blood, albumin, casts. Burning entire urinary tract. Strangury. Dysuria. Hematuria. Suppressed urine. Urine smells of violets (rare).
Abdomen

Cantharis has kidney inflammation with burning but more acute and violent. Apis has renal disease with scanty urine but thirstless. Serum anguillae has acute nephritis with anuria. Phosphorus has kidney hemorrhage but with more anxiety.
Safety Information
Phosphorus. Starch water and milk help in crude poisoning.
Turpentine oil is toxic — ingestion causes GI irritation, kidney damage (nephritis), CNS effects. Can be fatal in children. Inhalation causes respiratory irritation. Used historically as a medicine in small doses. Use ONLY potentised forms.
