Overview

GERD involves stomach acid flowing back into the esophagus causing irritation. Herbal support focuses on soothing tissue, supporting digestion, and often INCREASING low stomach acid (counterintuitively).

Common Symptoms

Heartburn, regurgitation, chest pain, difficulty swallowing, sour taste, cough, hoarseness, asthma-like symptoms (silent reflux).

When to Seek Medical Care

Difficulty swallowing, weight loss, blood in stool/vomit, persistent symptoms, chronic use of antacids needs evaluation (Barrett's esophagus risk).

General Self-Care Basics
