Overview

Cluster headaches are severe, characteristically in clusters. One of the most painful conditions known. Requires specialized medical treatment.

Common Symptoms

Severe one-sided headache around eye/temple, occurs in clusters (daily for weeks), 15 min to 3 hours, eye tearing, nasal congestion, restlessness during attack.

When to Seek Medical Care

Cluster headache requires neurology treatment. Acute treatments (oxygen, sumatriptan) and preventives available. Very painful but manageable.

General Self-Care Basics

Oxygen therapy during attacks (very effective), avoid alcohol during cluster period, consistent sleep, trigger identification.

Herbal Support Options

CAUTION — work with neurologist. Melatonin high-dose has research (but affects cluster cycle). Magnesium. CoQ10. Capsaicin intranasal has some research. Kudzu studied. Psilocybin research emerging but controversial/illegal. Breath work during attacks.
