Common Symptoms

When to Seek Medical Care

If nausea/vomiting is severe, prolonged, or accompanied by fever, blood, or severe pain. If dehydration develops.

General Self-Care Basics

Small frequent meals, avoid strong smells, fresh air, cool compress, stay hydrated with small sips, acupressure (P6 point on wrist), bland foods (BRAT diet).

Herbal Support Options

Ginger is the #1 evidence-based herb for nausea — effective for pregnancy, motion, post-operative, and chemotherapy-induced nausea. Peppermint tea or aromatherapy. Chamomile for digestive nausea. Fennel for nausea with bloating. Cannabis/CBD (where legal) for chemotherapy nausea.

Pregnancy & Nursing Notes

Pediatric Notes

Ginger ale/tea and peppermint are gentle for children. Watch for dehydration in vomiting children.

Red Flags

Severe dehydration, blood in vomit, persistent vomiting for more than 24 hours, vomiting with severe headache or stiff neck.
