Overview

Sciatica is pain along the sciatic nerve, often from disc issues or muscle entrapment. Combination of herbal support, physical therapy, and stretches is most effective.

Common Symptoms

Pain from lower back through buttock and down leg, often one-sided, numbness, tingling, weakness, pain with sitting or coughing.

When to Seek Medical Care

Severe weakness, bowel/bladder changes (emergency — cauda equina), symptoms in both legs, severe pain, or symptoms not improving in 4-6 weeks.

General Self-Care Basics

Gentle stretching (piriformis, hamstring), avoid prolonged sitting, proper posture, physical therapy, walking, core strengthening, pelvic stability work.

Herbal Support Options

St. John's Wort oil topically for nerve pain. White Willow Bark internally. Turmeric and Boswellia for inflammation. Lobelia (small doses) as antispasmodic. CBD for nerve pain. Comfrey ointment (short-term external). Capsaicin topical.
