Overview

Tinnitus (ringing, buzzing, or other sounds in ears without external source) is common with hearing loss or noise exposure. Management often requires multiple approaches.

Common Symptoms

Ringing, buzzing, hissing, clicking, or other sounds in one or both ears, often worse in quiet environments, may affect sleep and concentration.

When to Seek Medical Care

Sudden tinnitus, one-sided tinnitus (rule out tumor), hearing loss, vertigo with tinnitus, or pulsatile tinnitus warrants evaluation.

General Self-Care Basics

Protect hearing, reduce caffeine, manage stress, white noise or nature sounds, avoid silence when possible, address underlying causes.

Herbal Support Options

Ginkgo Biloba has some research for tinnitus (mixed results). Magnesium. Zinc (if deficient). CoQ10. B12 if deficient. Address circulation with Ginkgo, Gotu Kola. Meditation and CBT-like approaches. Sound therapy often most effective.
