Mentha arvensis
The primary commercial source of natural menthol — contains more menthol than peppermint. Used extensively in industry and as a cheaper alternative to peppermint. Very cooling and analgesic but requires care due to high menthol content.

Menthol (70–90%), menthone, isomenthone, limonene, neomenthol
Emotional & Psychological
Highly stimulating and mentally clarifying. Helps with mental fatigue, lack of concentration, and drowsiness. Provides an immediate sense of alertness and freshness. Can be overstimulating.

Powerful cooling analgesic — excellent for headaches, muscle pain, and neuralgia. Strong decongestant for sinusitis and nasal congestion. Digestive support for nausea and indigestion. Antibacterial. More intense menthol effect than peppermint.

Contraindications
Avoid near face of infants and children — risk of laryngospasm. Avoid with cardiac fibrillation. Avoid with G6PD deficiency. Avoid if using homeopathic remedies (may antidote).
