Therapeutic Properties
Chemistry
Primary Constituents
Alpha-pinene (40-70%), limonene (3-15%), alpha-thujene (2-8%), myrcene (2-6%), sabinene (2-5%), beta-pinene (1-4%) per Tisserand & Young 2014
Emotional & Psychological
Frankincense Sacra is deeply meditative, slowing and deepening the breath and quieting the chatter of the mind. It eases anxiety, supports contemplative practice and is traditionally associated with opening to the sacred. It provides a bridge between grounded embodiment and spiritual openness, and is particularly supportive during grief, transition, crisis of meaning or periods of spiritual seeking.
Physical Therapeutic Uses
Frankincense Sacra supports the immune and respiratory systems, easing bronchitis, coughs, asthma and sinus congestion. Its anti-inflammatory action addresses arthritis, muscular pain and inflammatory skin conditions. It is highly regenerative for aging, scarred or damaged skin, and preliminary research suggests boswellic acid compounds (minimal in the oil but present in the resin) may support cellular health.
